You must already be familiar with medium blogging site which serves all types of articles like technology, news, etc. You must also have heard that medium pays for articles you write. Many people ask me if they should start their own blog or write articles for the medium as medium pays you a big amount for a small post which is more than what an average blogger earns in a month. If you are earning 1000$ or more per month from your blog then you won't have any get a doubt about posting on medium but most of the bloggers earn 100$ to 500$ a month and a medium definately pays 100-1000$ dollars per post if you post is enough to generate maximum numbers of claps.
The advantage on the medium is that all the SEO of their site is handled by specialists and whenever you post a good post on the medium you are bound to get 10k views just on the basis of SEO. Now the number of claps you receive is on the quality of the post. So I made some research on this topic and then we have prepared a whole list of pros and cons of medium and why you should post on your own blog instead of posting on medium.

Medium is an online publishing platform launched by Evan Williams in 2012. It is owned by Medium corporation. The platform has about social journalism, which allows all types of publishers to publish their content on the blog.
Pros of writing posts on medium:
Regular payment:
The best thing about the medium is that you don't have to wait till adsense reaches it payment threshold or till you affiliate account has reached the payment threshold. You will be provided income on the number of views you get. If you post easily goes about 10k views which every post on the medium and you get enough claps then you are bound to get a bounty of 100$.
Cons of writing posts on medium:
No branding:
No branding:
You don't get a brand recognition as you are branded as a blogger who works on medium or a medium employee. Now, this part is where I hate medium the most. If you really want to post and make a name for yourself then you will have to make your own blog. With medium, you are branded as a regular medium employee.
What many people do is they post on their blog and then import the post to the medium using import function on medium. What this does is that it copies the whole post from your blog to medium and then leaves a link to your blog at the bottom of the post. Now does this, you may get backlinks from medium on your blog but the biggest problem here is that you post gets duplicated on medium and Google will give first preference to the post which is posted on medium instead of the original post on your blog because medium is definately older and more popular than your blog (We assume this because you are duplicating your post on medium).
This puts your blog at a disadvantage. Every time new post gets published on your blog you will import it on medium and then your blog will keep getting lower rankings from Google which is, of course, bad for your blog. Soon, time will come when Google will totally disregard your blog and keep ranking your posts from the medium.
Naturally, this will lead to loss of traffic on your blog because 90% of traffic on blogs comes from organic searches. Now, what is the use of such a blog with low search engine rankings and low traffic? This leaves you with two choices. Either delete your posts on medium or delete your own blog and keep posting on medium.
Now you have put so much into your blog and made it so popular. Would you just delete the blog you created after putting so much hard work and patience into it? Would you just delete a brand for a small amount of income? Well, No. That's the reason I keep telling everyone to post on your own blog instead of making posts on medium. Yes also remember never duplicate your original posts on medium.
Now, the main point is should you publish your posts on medium or make your own blog?
That depends on you. If you just want a small part-time income you can post on medium and get paid on a monthly basis if you are publishing quality posts. If you are looking to create a brand and become popular then seriously recommend you to make your own blog and start making posts.
