Now, let me tell you that you don't need root or anything for this trick. Also, you will NOT require any sort of modded app or anything for this. this is just a simple workaround that will automatically put the youtube app in the background while you surf the web or do other things on your phone.
Secondly, this won't work with each and every app. Only the apps which don't support split screen will be able to put the youtube app in the background. Otherwise, you will have to work with the half screen for youtube and half screen for your other stuff.

All you have to do is open youtube app and put it in split screen or multi-window as Google calls it. now just press the home button on the screen and see. youtube app will automatically be put in the background and you will be able to do every other thing you want to.
